You are a bright, responsible, college student (or older) who loves building things (with computers, wood, and other materials), is good at sports (or at least a sport) and loves working with and teaching kids. I’m looking for someone to run an informal but structured summer camp out of our home in West Medford (and taking advantage of local parks and facilities) for 3-5 kids between 7 and 9 years of age, including our own son and a few of his friends. You would work with me (Mom) to design the schedule and activities and run the “camp” which will combine hands-on activities (building and programming with lego mindstorms, programming in scratch, electronics projects, etc.) with structured outdoor activities. I’m envisioning a 9-3 schedule (or similar) M – F for 8-10 weeks during the summer (exact dates TBD). Pay would be $17 – $20.
We are a family of three with an 8-year old son in 3rd grade who loves building things (with legos, blocks, computers, pvc, and fiber) and sports. Mom is a real estate and internet professional working part time and dad is a public radio producer. We are a vegetarian household and are active neighbors, volunteers, and community members. If you’re interested, please send a note to rachael (at) wordaroundtown (dot) com with resume attached.
