Trains I’ve Missed
Here’s to the trains I’ve missed
The loves I lost
The bridges I burned
The rivers I never crossed
Here’s to the call I didn’t hear
The signs I didn’t heed
The roads I couldn’t take
The maps that I just wouldn’t read
It’s a big old world
But I’ve found my way
And the hell and the hurt
Led me straight to this
Here’s to the trains I’ve missed
I’ve been a clown I’ve been a fool
And I pushed on every chance
I crossed too many lines trying to crawl out of God’s hands
And there are stones I didn’t throw
Hearts I didn’t break
And a little hope I held onto with a silver shining thread of faith
It’s a big old world
But I’ve found my way
And the hell and the hurt
Led me straight to this
Here’s to the trains I missed
And here’s to this place I found
And the love I know
The earth and the sky here that I call home
Here’s to the things that I believe, bigger than me
And the moments I find myself right where I wanna be
It’s a big old world
But I’ve found my way
And the hell and the hurt
Led me straight to this
It’s a big old world
But I’ve found my way
And the hell and the hurt
Led me straight to this
Here’s to the trains I missed
Pretty World
Before the sun, before the heat
Before we untangle from our sheets
Before this summer day unfurls
Pretty World
Before the paper is dropped at the gate
Before our coffee before we are late
Before dreams are lost like midnight pearls
Pretty World
Pretty word, pretty roses
Pretty smiles, morning light.
Pretty eyes, lazy curls
Pretty World
Before the traffic, before the jets
Before the sound of your first steps
Fades away like summer curls
Pretty World
Pretty world, pretty roses
Pretty smiles, morning light.
Pretty eyes, lazy curls
Pretty World
I Once Was a Mountain
I once was a mountain, but now I’m a stone
The clouds and the eagles once sat on my throne
All down through the ages determined to stay
But the winds and the waters wore me away
A long time ago when my home was complete
The trees and the valleys they sat at my feet
My shadows were cast on for a mile down below
A wrap around my shoulders a blanket of snow
Refrain
Down here on the ground looking up at the sky
Once I did stand so proud and so high
Once I could see near and far across the land
And now I am destined to turn into sand
One Beautiful Day
If we believe that we should make a new beginning
If we are sure that we can walk the path of love
If we decided to try and make this life worth living
Then we must look within as well as up above
And one beautiful day, we will awaken
To find that we all have shared the same dream
Then we shall rise in celebration
Eager to seek what we have seen
When we have broken all the heavy chains that bind us
When we can leave behind the hatred and the strife
When we rejoice in all the differences among us
Then we shall truly know the beauty of this life
And one beautiful day, we will awaken
To find that we all have shared the same dream
Then we shall rise in celebration
Eager to seek what we have seen.
